Do You Know What It Means to Live in the Body?

“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.”

– 1 Corinthians 12:27

The apostle Paul taught us that the faithful church is the Body of Christ. The Body of Christ is a healthy body, full of life, and each of us is a member of this Body. See how the Lord teaches us everything in such a simple way so that we can understand His Word properly.

Our body has a head, trunk, and limbs. Look at the limbs: they are the arms and hands, legs and feet. Notice the neck that connects the trunk to the head. The limbs are connected to the trunk, right? What we notice at first is that a body is a united set of various members.

The body has a brain (head) that governs it:

We know that the brain guides the entire body. Likewise, Christ commands the faithful Church.

“…Christ is the head of the church, and He is the saviour of the body.”

– Ephesians 5:23b

The word “Christ” means “anointed.” Jesus came into this world as a man, with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. And the same Holy Spirit that was upon Jesus is with the church.

The head governs our body. In the same way, Jesus governs His church. We cannot see the Holy Spirit, but we see what He does in the midst of the faithful church. The Holy Spirit reveals the secrets of God’s Word to us and teaches us how we should act at all times in our lives. The faithful Church, the servants of God, are governed by Christ. Thus, we do not do what we think is best, but we do the will of the Lord Jesus, who governs our lives.

Example: When you are among your peers, you will not do the wrong things that many of them do. Who governs your life and my life is the Lord Jesus, through His Holy Spirit.

The body is a set of united, inseparable members:

A member of our body does not survive alone. Have you ever seen two legs crossing the street by themselves? No. If someone says:

“I don’t need to go to church to serve God; I can do it at home.”

I ask: Is this person acting according to the Word of God? No, because they are being an isolated member of the body, which is the church.

“For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.”

– 1 Corinthians 12:12

The body is the best example of fellowship. The members of our body do nothing alone. Individually, legs do not walk, ears do not hear, mouths do not speak, etc.

In the church, the Body of Christ, it is the same. In the faithful church, the brothers and sisters live in fellowship, rejoicing and weeping with one another. A brother, in his struggle, is not alone because the whole Church prays and seeks the Lord for his life. If someone is sick, the church prays for the Lord to bless. And each one works in the Work of God according to the Lord’s calling: some are instrumentalists, others in the praise team, others are pastors, teachers. But all, before the Lord, have equal importance because the Lord looks at the sincerity of our hearts.

So, what does it mean to live in the Body?

Living in the body means living in fellowship with God and with the brethren. As members of the body of Christ, we must heed God’s call to work in His Work. Let’s do all the will of Jesus, who governs our lives at all times. We know that Jesus will come to take His faithful church, which is the Body of Christ. We need to be part of this church that will soon be raptured. Are you a member of the Body of Christ? Yes! We want, every day of our lives, to be part of this church that will soon be raptured. Maranatha! The Lord Jesus is coming!
